Realistic Fiction

What to include

Strong characters. Realistic problems. Emotions, thoughts, reactions. MC’s flaws, shortcomings or pre-existing problem. These suggestions are based on readers’ expectations for this kind of story. But it’s really up to you. The main thing is to have fun with it.

  1. I had just finished getting ready for the first day of school, when I stepped in dog scat in my brand new white dress shoes,, and tripped and feel into a mud puddle trying to scrape the scat off, so it was not a good start to the first day of 7th grade

    • I looked around quickly, hoping nobody was around, and stood up. It was lucky I had a spare pair of shoes in my rucksack – but they were trainers and didn’t go to brilliantly with the clothes I was wearing – and muddy, wet clothes, at that.

I hoped others would think that my family didn’t have a washer machine so I kept on walking.
When I got to school just as I thought, a lot of kids looked at me. I tried to ignore the stares, but it was hard. Too hard for me and I nearly tripped because I couldn’t see though my blurry eye which were full of tears.
