I’m happy to welcome two new writers to All Write with Me – Elizabeth B., 7th grade, and her brother Kaden B., age 10.
Elizabeth submitted Champions in Friendship, a great story about the value of friends, and Dolphins, an oral report filled with fascinating facts on these intelligent creatures.
Kaden submitted a well-written poem about changing weather, Rainbow.

What do you do if the characters in your story speak a different language than your readers? What do you do if that language is intermixed with your readers’ language? And what do you do if the foreign language doesn’t even really exist?

WOOT! The Purple Pheonix has finished Chapter 1. Like all good chapter endings, it makes you want to read Chapter 2 (which is hopefully coming soon, right, Purple Pheonix?) He’s also decided on the title, The Group. He’s been working hard and often, so follow the link and leave him a comment!
The Purple Phoenix started a new story in Group Projects. Select “Fantasy” under Group Projects to read the beginning and add to the story.
If you’d like to explain how you feel about something or if you want to convince others to feel the same way, try writing a persuasive essay. First, make sure readers understand your point by stating your opinion right away. Then use related information or facts to support why you feel this way.
To see a well-organized persuasive essay, check out “My Vote“. Allen C. tells us what he would have done in the very first sentence. He uses the rest of the essay to explain why he would have done it.
When a story first enters your head, try to write down everything that occurs to you, even if you have to scribble. Stories and the ideas behind them can be very slippery and come and go very fast. You want to capture everything you can before you forget (especially if you’re in a noisy room). It won’t be perfect, but that’s okay. You can always go back and polish it after you get it down on paper.
That’s what Allen C. and his mom did in the story, “The Same, but Different.” The first version is what writers call the rough draft and it’s how the story first occurred to Allen. The second version shows the changes Allen made to the story after he discussed it with his mom. See if you can spot the changes and figure out why he decided to make them.
