Opinions, please!

In the mood for some school-based, middle-grade fantasy? Do you like relatable characters who get themselves in heaps of trouble? Action and adventure? Suspense and surprises?

My third novel, How I Broke My School, is now available and I’d love to know what you think of it.

After all, I’m writing for you.

If you’re interested, contact me at dianeowens@allwritewithme.com to receive the free ebook for reviewers. I’m looking for and would welcome reviews and opinions from teachers, parents, and kids of all ages. If you’re under 13, please ask your parents to contact me.

Benson’s Got Bling!

Benson Bling SWWhen you write a story, you’re never going to see it the same way a reader would. Because you’ve spent so much time thinking about it, writing it and revising it, it becomes impossible to separate the story that exists in your mind from the one that exists on the page.

And that’s why reviews, and other people’s opinions, are so important. That’s how you find out what worked and what didn’t.

Which is why I’m over here, still doing my happy dance, after No Ordinary Lizard received a 5 Star Review from Readers Favorite. (Click on the link if you’d like to read it.)

I wanted readers to fall in love with Benson, the lizard (and star) of this story, but I honestly didn’t know if anyone would. So yes, it feels awesome that Benson’s earned himself some shiny bling.

But. This is just one person’s opinion. What I really want to know, what I really care about, is what you think.

So I’ve made the ebook free at all major retailers and priced the paperback edition as low as Amazon allows. All I ask is that you give me your honest opinion by posting your review on Amazon.

Thanks for reading. Thanks for reviewing. I’ll be over at Amazon, ready to read your opinion as soon as it comes in. Yes, it does matter that much. After all, I wrote this story for you.

New Continuing Story

planetMikaela starts her newest story, Awesome World of Randomness, saying she let her imagination run wild on this one. And run wild it did. Loaded with creativity, interesting characters and plenty of action, I highly recommend you follow the link for laugh-out-loud fun. Thanks for sharing, Mikaela!

Two Additions and One New Group Project

author at workMikaela’s been busy writing and I’m pleased to say she’s sharing it all right here. Follow the links to read the additions then leave a comment to let her know what you think. I’m sure she’d appreciate it!

Read Chapter Five in her newly revised The Magic Sword of Trestia.

Read four new entries to The Spark Diaries.

Mikaela also started a new group project about a “tweetbird’. You’ll find it under Group Projects, Humor #2. Follow the link then select “Leave a reply” to continue this story.

Incredible work, Mikaela – as always!

Building Characters, Setting Moods & Adding to Group Projects

kid at computer cuteThis clip art is what I imagine Neve looks like when she’s writing – I have no idea what she really looks like but I’m betting she attacks her computer like this. She’s been busy!

If you love/need/have to write, chances are you have characters talking in your head all the time. I think most writers do. Today, Neve has shared several characters that fill her mind and you’ll be glad she did. Because they’re hilarious. For a good time and a good laugh, check out The Secret Life of Ninjaz. And please, do Neve and me a favor by leaving a comment. I love the way she’s telling this story and I’d love to know what you think. I’m sure Neve would love to know, too. She’d also like you to answer a poll on which character you like best. Follow the link and you’ll find the poll.

If you’re in the mood for something scary, check out The Hellcreature, also submitted by Neve. It amazes me that Neve submitted such completely different stories with completely different tones on the same day. The Ninjaz will make you laugh; the Hellcreature will make you shiver. That’s the power of words, y’all!

And if that isn’t enough, Neve also added to the Humor Group Project by answering what IT is.

Thanks, Neve, for giving us so many great things to read today!

Welcome New Writing Team (and some other things)

team_workThis is awesome! Five writers – Elsy, Mimi, Sophie, Patti and Bunnie – have come together to create and develop this new, ongoing story, Wings and Other Stuff. I think it’s going to be a very compelling fantasy. Follow the link to read the introduction and let them know what you think. Welcome to the site, everyone! And thanks, Elsy, for inviting your friends. I hope you all have a great time.

See Neve’s response to Mikaela’s suggestions for Neve’s story, Flight (posted at the bottom of the story).

Elsy continued the Adventure #2 Group Project by introducing a new character in a mysterious way, and the Fantasy Group Project by using an existing character in a humorous way.

Thanks to all of you for making this site grow bigger and better every day. You amaze me.

Welcome New Writer

pencilMegan N. shared her talent on All Write with Me today and I’m so glad she did. She’s been busy, too. Read her additions to the site by clicking on the following links – also, let her know what you think by posting a comment, or two, or three.

Better yet, let her know what you think, then add your own imagination to the Group Projects stories – everyone’s additions are welcome, including and especially yours.

Welcome, Megan. I admire your imagination and am so happy you found us!

P.S. This is not really a picture of Megan’s pencil. I’m sure she doesn’t bite hers. I picked this image because I’m assuming that if she does use pencils, she uses them until they’re gone. Like this one.

Come Write with Us!

work togetherYou can write stories with other kids right here on the site. To get started, visit the Group Projects pages or select the links in this post. Shiloh313 has begun a really funny story on the Humor page. She’s also added to the stories already started on the Fantasy and Science Fiction pages.

We’ve got three writers working on the Fantasy story and four writers working on the Science Fiction story. It’s fun to see what happens to a story when different writers with their own ideas move a story along. I can’t wait to see which writer is going to decide what happens next. Feel free to add to these stories – I’m sure all four writers would love for you to join in!
